About Seasoned Souls
Seasoned Souls is a warm, free welcoming chair-based exercise and social group held every Wednesday at St Philip's Church, Avondale Square. Designed for older adults and anyone who could benefit, the session supports mobility, independence, confidence, and connection — through movement first, then conversation.
We offer a supportive, community-based programme that promotes holistic wellbeing, helping people improve mobility, confidence, independence, and social connection.
Who is it for?
Older adults, or anyone who would benefit from gentle movement and social connection — no experience necessary.
what to expect
- 45 minutes of seated and standing chair-based exercise, focused on strength, balance, flexibility and mobility
- Suitable for beginners and those returning to physical activity
- A friendly and inclusive group environment
- 1 hour of hospitality afterwards — tea, refreshments and informal chat (entirely optional)
- Capacity: 30 people per class
"I am profoundly moved by the power of Seasoned Souls to bring hope, joy, dignity and renewed life to our community."
— Revd Helen Harknett
“It is a real honour to lead the weekly Seasoned Souls chair exercise class. I am incredibly proud of, and inspired by, this wonderful group, whose commitment and determination never cease to amaze me.
Over time, many members have also developed greater balance, coordination, and strength, helping them to maintain their independence and quality of life. Members have also mentioned their sleep has improved and they feel less anxious generally. Beyond the physical benefits, the social aspect of these sessions is equally important."
